under the theme, Community Based Entrepreneurship and Innovation: A Strategy for Small Island Developing States. The conference, hosted by the Ministry of Community Development,

of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, brought together over 250 participants including regional ministers, community practitioners, donor agencies and government officials.

Belize Gender Country Study, 2014

The Caribbean Local Economic Development Project (CARILED) examined gender as it relates to micro, small and  medium enterprise development in six Caribbean countries.  The findings of this study showed gender gaps for both males and female entrepreneurs in different areas of development.  Traditionally gendered roles for MSME  sectors, access to financing and lack of adequate guidance or community support were some areas that affected  men and women differently in the Region.  This report is related to the study in Belize.


 




Municipal Training Communications and Local Economic Development, May 2015, Belize

In May 2015, the municipalities of Belmopan and San Ignacio Santa Elena in Belize received training on creating public education and communications strategies for sharing and moblizing support for local economic development initiatives. The two day training was facilitated by Kizzann Lee Sam, Regional Program Manager, CARILED and held in the YWCA facility in Belmopan, Belize.
