Kizzann Lee Sam, Regional Programme Coordinator, CARILED presented on Community-Based Entrepreneurship and Innovation: A Strategy for Small Island Developing States at the Second Biennial Community Development Partnership Forum & Exhibition (CDPF-II) under the theme, Community Based Entrepreneurship and Innovation: A Strategy for Small Island Developing States. The conference, hosted by the Ministry of Community Development, of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, brought together over 250 participants including regional ministers, community practitioners, donor agencies and government officials.




Trinidad & Tobago Gender Country Study

In 2014, CARILED conducted country studies to determine the influence of gender on MSME start up, expansion and sustainability. Six countries were examined, and a report on the findings was drafted in late 2014. The reports also contain recommendations for local government and LED practitioners towards improving ease of doing business and access to support services within local communities. This webinar will present the findings of the country report for Trinidad and Tobago.




Trinidad and Tobago Gender Study Report, 2014

The Caribbean Local Economic Development Project (CARILED) examined gender as it relates to micro, small and  medium enterprise development in six Caribbean countries.  The findings of this study showed gender gaps for both males and female entrepreneurs in different areas of development.  Traditionally gendered roles for MSME  sectors, access to financing and lack of adequate guidance or community support were some areas that affected  men and women differently in the Region.  This report is related to the study in (insert country name).




CARILED Workshop-The Concept of LED

In October – November 2013, CARILED hosted a series of two (2) day workshops in seven Caribbean countries: Belize, Dominica, Grenada (Carriacou), Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago. The workshops, facilitated by a Canadian Consultant and a Canadian volunteer, outlined the basic principles of local economic development, and  trained Local Economic Development Officers, members of LED Planning and Advisory Committees, members of LED National Advisory Committees and other key partners and stakeholders in each country.
